Library

Hart Area District Library offers opportunities for learning and fun all summer long! Preschool – 2nd grade – Join Miss Suzie for interactive story and craft time every Friday at 11 AM! All Ages Summer Reading Program – Butterflies at Your Library – Visitors will be able to observe butterfly metamorphosis and we will have butterfly themed crafts such as card making and pollinator friendly seed “bombs” available on a drop-in basis. Shelby Area District Library

Thanks to donations from the Friends of the Library and Shelby Optimist Club, we will have a virtual program for children.  We will also have a reading challenge for teens and adults.  Summer Reading Program runs June 21 through July 30. Call the library at 231.861.4565

AgriScience Everywhere Camp

AgriScience Everywhere camp for current 5th – 8th graders to explore the wide world of agriscience, hosted by West Shore ESD CTE, in partnership with the West Michigan Research Station.  Students will learn the impact biotechnology, chemistry, and ecology have on agriculture and food production.  Students will work together using teamwork, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.  On the last day, everyone will visit the CTE AgriScience program on the campus of WSCC to tour the facilities and take part in hands-on activities like harvesting crops and pond ecology.  Camp runs July 19-22 at the West Michigan Research Station at 5185 N. Oceana Dr. in Hart.  On the 22nd, a bus will transport students from the Research Station to WSCC and back.  Monday – Wednesday the camp runs 9 am – 12 pm and Thursday is 9 am – 2 pm to allow for travel time to WSCC.  Instructors are Erika Fatura and Mark Willis.

Golden Sands Dunes Junior Golf Camp & Tour

Learn the skills of golfing while having FUN! The Wednesday golf camp teaches you the skills needed to play golf. The Thursday tour is geared towards encouraging all to know how to play a round of golf. All abilities welcome to join! Golf clubs are available onsite if needed. • Cost: $10 per week

Oceana Conservation District

Day Camps – Children ages 5-10 are invited to join Conservation District staff and guest scientists for one (or all) of our fun-filled summer camp weeks. At Pond Camp, Forest Camp, or On the Farm Camp, children will have the opportunity to connect with the natural world and make new friends through games, hands-on activities, crafts and nature hikes. New Era Farmers Market – Kids Power of Produce Club

Check out the great fun offered through the Kids Power of Produce Club at the Farmers Market in the parking lot of New Era Reformed Church at 1820 Ray Ave.  Activities for kids ages 4-12 including a Bike Rodeo on June 22nd 4pm (bring your bike), Magic Show on July 13th at 4pm, and story times, exercise fun and even a carnival at future markets! Ludington State Park

Ludington State Park has beaches, trails and sites to enjoy, and they also have great programming for youth, including Birds of Prey, a Magic Show, and Michigan Reptiles and Amphibians events at the amphitheater and Lake Michigan Beach House.
